William B. "Billy" Ezell, III

June 21, 1971 — May 18, 2021

There are some who, when they die, the whole world seems less bright. William B. “Billy” Ezell IIl, was a renaissance man who shared his incredibly nurturing, big heart with everyone, from those he loved to strangers in need of a helping hand. Billy was the “go to” guy for everyone he met and was always excited to help the neighborhood and go out of his way to help fix problems. He got his hands dirty working in the garden, fixing things that needed a little extra love, and creating inventions to solve the problem. There was no mistake as to what he was into because everything was clearly labeled. He was the quintessential DIY man.

We all take life for granted until we learn it has an end. Abruptly, on Tuesday May 18, 2021 there was no time for goodbye as death is not serene. After just 49 trips around the sun, we passed  “Big Time Operator” over from time to eternity.

The most amazing part about being human is the collection of traits learned from others. Billy was known as a “‘jack of all traits” due to the many amazing pieces that made him whole. Billy was born in Charleston, SC where he spent his formative years learning to embrace the land and the lessons it has to offer from his father. His kind soul and gentle spirit that he embodied so well were the cherished traits of his mother. Billy cultivated the skill of woodworking and tinkering through the teachings of his uncles. His wild spirit and childish natures are a result of growing up amongst three sisters.

With all of these amazing traits, you are nothing without a rock. His wife was his rock, a woman who saved a single father and created stability in chaos. She encouraged Billy to try new things and embraced his astonishing artistic abilities. With all of the properties that made Billy who he was, he did not let his wisdom succeed him. Billy made sure that his daughter knew how to change her oil and that his son received the talent to tinker. With his help, his children were raised with an abundance of knowledge to succeed in life.

Billy was an incredibly talented artist and made his career as a graphic designer at Drexel University in Philadelphia for the past 14 years. His design work can be seen all over Drexel’s campus on the buses, billboards, and buildings. Not only was Billy artistically inclined, he excelled in all forms of art. This included spending his college and young adult years as “DJ Killer”. The essence of this love for music could be heard throughout the years by filling the house with his diverse taste in music.

Our loss is immeasurable but so is the love left behind. No day will erase his kind soul from the memory of time. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 15 years, Lisa Confora. He was father to the most precious, creative, and loving children who he adored above all else, Lux & Lotus Ezell. Billy is the son of William B and the late Nancy Johnson Ezell, Jr. Billy is also survived and will be sadly missed by his sisters and families; Nancy Ezell, Will Suggs, Gretchen & Rob Tyson and Elizabeth & Mike McQuaid-Ezell as well as his mother and father in-law, Pasquale & Linda Confora and his brother & sister in-law, Mark and Kerri Confora.

The Ezell family have chosen to gather privately but invite you to share your memories of Billy on the obituary’s platform. Billy loved life to the fullest and will forever be remembered through his crazy adventures and compassion for others. Although he is done with his physical body, we will be reminded of his love through the warm winds, the cool rain, and radiant sun on our skin.

In celebration of his life, contributions can be made to some of the organizations that Billy loved most: People For the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) at www.peta.org or Sea Shepherd at www.seasheperd.org
