of Audubon, passed away peacefully at Underwood Memorial Hospital, Woodbury on Monday May 5th, 2008 at the age of 90.
Mr. Casebeer was born in Audubon on August 5th, 1917 and had been a lifelong resident. A proud graduate of Audubon High School, class of 1935, he was a founding member of the Audubon High Alumni Association and a long time supporter of the school. He was one of the first recipients of the AHS Ring of Honor Award. He was a longtime member of the Audubon Father's Association, the Audubon Historical Society, The Haddon Heights F&AM Mizpah Lodge # 191 and the Murray Trout American Legion Post 262.
Walter served in the U.S. Army as a medic during WWII on the hospital ship Acadia. After being honorably discharged he married Catherine M. (nee) Hart, his beloved wife of 60 years. After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, he worked various jobs, including RCA in Moorestown and had later opened Taylor Rental Center in Cross Keys.
Walter was a man who was devoted to his family and loved to travel, visiting every continent except Antarctica, after retirement.
He is survived by his loving wife, Catherine of Audubon, his daughters Margaret FitzRoy of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, Joan Casebeer Rodriguez of Seal Beach, CA, Wendy Caylie of Haddon Twp. and Janet Yunghans of Petersburg, NJ. Mr. Casebeer is the proud Grandfather of 5 grandchildren Jake, Trevor and Caylie FitzRoy and Kasey and Konnor Yunghans. He is the brother of Dorothy Viscovich, Adele Seidelman, Geraldine Buondonno and the late Minnie Eckstein and Eleanor Clark.
Funeral Services will be held privately. Relatives and friends are invited to remember and pay tribute on Saturday morning between 10 and 11 am at the Audubon High School 350 Edgewood Ave. Audubon, NJ 08106 where a memorial service will begin at 11 am.
