Vivian J. Shannon (nee Norton), age 78 of Oaklyn, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at the Cadbury Rehabilitation Center in Cherry Hill.
Mrs. Shannon was born a military baby at Hill Air Force Base in Utah. She was predeceased by her parents, James Madison and Carolyn June (Frye) Madison, and Stepfather Otis Norton. She had been a longtime Oaklyn neighbor where she nurtured her family as a doting wife and mother. Vivian was a dedicated congregant, had been a part of the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church family for over 40 years, and had served on the Altar Guild during her early years. She worked in retail sales and had spent time at area Strawbridge's and Clover stores. Mrs. Shannon loved to dance and, of course, tap her toe to “The King” Elvis Presley. At home, she filled her days cheering on the Phillies and… unfortunately, the Dallas Cowboys. She loved to read historical and romance novels and just couldn’t get enough of giant fat cats. In later years her health had faced significant adversity. But, she fought like a girl and was “The Bionic Mom”. Love and laughter will live on long after adversity, sadness, and tears.
Mrs. Shannon leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, of 57 years, Patrick Shannon, and her children; Leslie & her husband Ernest Braun, Michael, Megan & her husband Chase Perry, and John & his wife Maureen. Vivian is the proud grandmother of; Jacqueline, Brian, Brittany, Jayden, Kian, Brynn, Riley, and great grandmother of Zachary, Blake, Kaleigh, Jadyn, Brielle, Madelyn, and Ashton. She is also survived and will be sadly missed by her brothers, Steven & his wife Kathy Norton and James Norton and her little feline friend “Vegas”
Relatives, friends, neighbors, and the St. Mark’s congregation are invited to gather with the Shannon family. We’ll be sharing our heartfelt stories on Monday morning between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm at Creran Celebration 400 White Horse Pike, Oaklyn where a remembrance ceremony will begin at 12:00 pm. The time-honored tradition of reuniting those we love with nature will be held privately.
