Roy A. Beers, Jr. of Audubon, NJ passed away on January 23rd. He was 97 years old. Mr. Beers was the son of the late Roy A. Beers, Sr. and Edith Kinzer Beers.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Dorothy Anderson Beers, and four children - Roy A. Beers,III(Lana); Patricia Goff (Everett); Dorothy Wood (Roy) and Robert E. Beers(Mary); a sister Dorothy Hetrick; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was born in Academia, PA, - the family ran a flour and feed mill. He was educated at Grove City College graduating with a degree in engineering. He worked over 30 years with RCA in Camden, NJ as an electrical engineer in communications. He was the holder of numerous patents from his work there.
He kept his ties to Academia continuing to own his family's home. His hobby was fishing, which he did whenever he could in the Tuscarora Creek. He generously donated the Pomeroy Academia Covered Bridge to the Juniata Historical Society several years ago.
At the time of his death, he was the oldest member of the Logan Memorial Presbyterian Church in Audubon.
