Rose Marie (Giordano) McDonald

June 25, 1957 — June 15, 2023

Laurel Springs

Everyone deserves a champion. Someone who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists that they become the best they can possibly be. You see, what you put out in the world comes back to you and when you can touch someone's heart, it's limitless. Rose Marie (nee Giordano) McDonald was not just a champion, but the MVP. We’re all better for having her to enrich our own lives. One day we will know how lucky we were to have known her love with wonder, not grief.

Rose approached her days with abundant compassion and love for others in her own interesting way. Often with a “no questions asked” policy. During the later afternoon of Thursday, June 15, 2023, as the setting sun slides into the ocean’s horizon, we witnessed something beautiful. After 65 years, Rose’s circle of days concluded in the care and comfort of her surrounding family. Our loss is immeasurable, but so is the love left behind.

Rose Marie was born in Camden and had been a lifetime Camden County neighbor spending her later years in Laurel Springs. She had discreetly and unknowingly made a significant impact on the children, students, teachers, and staff around her at Berlin Community School, as well as her own neighbors, family, and friends. Rose held on to a small circle of friends and enjoyed breakfast meetings with them. She filled her time with arts and crafts, drawing, and playing pinochle with her twin sister Nancy. Of course, she’d press lady luck, every now and again, down at the casinos. At home, she adored being Mimi and will be fondly remembered as a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. You only live once - but if you do it right, once is enough because what we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others remains…

Rose, to the world you were but just a mother but, to your family, you are our world. She is survived by her children Jennifer & her husband Eric Maschke and Christopher and his wife Cara McDonald. She was the proud Mimi of; Briana Krawchuk, Kylie, and Avery Maschke, and Joey & Ryan McDonald. Rose is also survived and will be sadly missed by her sisters Nancy Sylvester, Alice & her husband Charles Clang, many nieces and nephews, and her furry little friends Lilly, Sheeba, and Mavcy. Rose had been predeceased by her late husband Tom Crivaro and her late brother Nicholas Giordano.

It's not length of life, but depth. Burn what is left of me and scatter my ashes to the winds. If you must bury something let it be my faults, my weaknesses. If by chance you wish to remember me, do it with a kind deed or word to someone who needs you.

The McDonald family has chosen to take comfort in each other and share their heartfelt stories privately.
