Age 91, originally of Audubon, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on February 1, 2015. Robert is predeceased by his loving wife Ruth Moir (nee Henderson), and his son Dennis Moir.
Robert is survived by his son Ray Moir (Lorraine) of Westmont, daughter Eileen Howell (Donald) of Boise, Idaho, and daughter-in-law Kathy Moir of Oaklyn. Robert leaves behind three grandchildren, Dennis (Roberta) of Robbinsville, NJ, Dana (Ed) of Suwanee, GA, and Tom (Molly) of Washington, DC, as well as five great-grandchildren, 11 great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as many friends in the community.
A lifelong resident of Audubon, Robert proudly served in the United States Army Air Force for three years during World War II with the 84th Bombardment Squadron, seeing action throughout Europe and Northern Africa. After the War, Robert returned to Audubon and was a member of the Audubon Police Department for over 28 years, rising to the rank of Deputy Chief of Police.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the viewing on Friday, February 6, 2015 from 10am-12pm at the HENRY FUNERAL HOME, 152 West Atlantic Avenue, Audubon, NJ 08106. A Celebration of Robert's Life & Service of Remembrance will begin at 12pm. The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his memory to Deborah Heart Association, P.O. Box 820 Browns Mills, NJ 08015.
