It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert F. Ludwick, Sr., who departed this world peacefully at the Berlin Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in Berlin, NJ, just days after celebrating his 89th birthday. A devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Robert’s legacy of love and kindness will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him.
Born into a world that would shape his indomitable spirit, Robert was a proud son of America, having served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. His commitment to upholding the ideals of freedom and service exemplified the character of a man who deeply valued his country and community.
Robert is the widower of his late wife Sarah “Sally” (nee Straub) Ludwick. Mr. Ludwick is survived by his son, Robert F. Ludwick, Jr., and his cherished daughter, Susan, and her husband, Christopher Cipriani. He was a proud grandfather to Jordan, Tatum, and her husband Wyatt, Taylor and her fiance Adam, Jamie and her fiance Joe, Jesse and his girlfriend Haylee, Jenna, Sophia and great grandfather of Salvatore, Addison, Mila, Isabelle, and Vienna. His family was his greatest treasure, and he took immense joy in the laughter and love they shared.
He is also survived by his dear sisters, Elizabeth Sharp and Rosie Pine.
Known for his affable nature, Robert loved people and was always ready with a warm smile or a listening ear. He was simply a good-hearted man who made those around him feel valued and appreciated. In his early years, Robert was a spirited boxer and worked as a lifeguard, always embracing life with enthusiasm. He had a profound love for the doo-wop music of the 1950s and was known to light up any dance floor with his jitterbug moves. A true lover of life, Robert enjoyed "bling" and was never seen without his beloved cowboy hats and accessories. His lifelong devotion to the Dodgers mirrored his passion for the game, and he was always eager to share stories and memories of his favorite team.
Robert F. Ludwick, Sr. will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His warm spirit, infectious laughter, and unwavering love will continue to inspire his family and friends for years to come. In celebrating his life, let us remember the joy he brought to each of us and the countless memories we shared. May he rest in peace, embraced by the love he so freely gave.
