Richard Thomas Bailey, 68, of Brooklawn, NJ, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on September 14, 2021, at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. The son of John Richard Bailey, Jr., and Diane Bailey (nee Lee), Richard spent his early years in the Fairview section of Camden. He was a 1970 graduate of Camden High School, and also had a Bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University. Rick, as he was known to all, worked for many years as an airline mechanic, and while with United Airlines, had the opportunity to live in Miami and San Francisco. When he moved back to NJ, he became a member of Elevator Constructors (IUEC) Local 5, Philadelphia, from which he retired in 2020. Among Rick’s many interests and hobbies were NASCAR, the Philadelphia Eagles, bicycling and kayaking. He had been an accomplished distance runner. Rick was a music lover, and a generous contributor to WXPN Public Radio. He had a great love for animals, and will be missed by his many feline nieces and nephews.

Richard is predeceased by his father, John Richard Bailey, Jr. He is survived by, and will be greatly missed by his loving mother, Diane Bailey, and his devoted sister, Linda Lee Doty, and her husband, William. Rick will be missed by many loving friends, especially his lifelong best friend, Dale Cashman, and Dale’s wife, Betty.

Funeral services for Richard will be held privately at the request of the family. There will be a Celebration of Rick’s Life at a later time.
