When the raindrops come tumbling, you’re the only one who can fill the world with sunshine. Do more of what makes you happy, spread joy and happiness wherever you go, the greatest beauty comes from within. Kindness conquers all. Stay true to your heart and never let the dream end. Patricia A. “Patsy” Karlsen (nee Harris) was outgoing, funny and energetic. She had strong opinions and treated everyone with kindness and respect. Her sunshine.
However, the sun always sets and the moon always falls. It may feel like the end, just pay no mind at all. Keep rollin’. Just after 78 trips around the sun, on the warm fall afternoon of Wednesday, November 20, 2024, Patsy went just a little farther than the sun. Heaven had lit her way and Her soul rose like incense from “Snow White’s House” in Deptford. But a tear we couldn't find. You showed us how we are supposed to live. You know that place between awake and asleep, where you can still remember dreaming?…. That’s where we’ll always love you.
Patsy was born in Camden and spent her formative years there. She held her faith dear and had been a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Camden early on and later a longtime parishioner of the Infant Jesus Parish, St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Home is where love resides, memories are created, friends always belong, and laughter never ends. Pat had made her home in and was a longtime Deptford neighbor. You could easily find her on the end of the telephone enjoying a cigarette or tending to her annual vegetable garden. Pat had a rough exterior that protected her warm heart of gold that will be missed by many. She loved cooking at home for friends or family or just spending time with those she loved over a cup of tea. Pat was fearless when it came to her children and unapologetically adored her grandchildren. She was a passionate Phillies and baseball fan and loved spending time at the ballpark with Patsy, Jule, and Austin. It only takes a moment to make a moment.
Patsy is the mother of Stanley T. Karlsen, Jr., Julia “Jule” Karlsen, and the late Patsy Dunleavy. She is the proud grandmother of Anthony M. (Sammantha) Dunleavy, Andrew T. (Robert) Dunleavy, Austin M. Dunleavy, and great-grandmother of Jon J. Cox and Anthony M. Dunleavy, Jr. Pat is also survived and will be sadly missed by brother William J. Harris, Julie Anne Harris and the father of her children Stanley T. Karlsen, Sr. She was predeceased by her parents, the late Lester & his wife Julia (nee Schwiering) Harris, her sister Marie Ezzi and her brother Frank Harris. Pat would do anything for anyone and went above and beyond for those she loved.
Relatives, friends, and neighbors are invited to gather with the Karlsen family. We’ll come together to remember, celebrate, and begin healing on Saturday morning between 9:00 am and 10:00 am at Creran Celebration Etherington & Creran Funeral Homes 400 White Horse Pike, Oaklyn. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 1739 Ferry Ave., Camden. A graveside tribute will conclude services at New St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bellmawr.
