On Monday, August 16th, 2021, Nicholas Thomas Lapiska of Marlton, NJ passed away at the age of 64.
Nicholas is predeceased by his parents and his sister Karen (Pierce). He is lovingly remembered by his son Nicholas, his daughter Sally, his brother Peter, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and more.
Nicholas was born on August 31st, 1956 in Camden, NJ to Peter and Catherine (Daniluk) Lapiska. He grew up in Woodlynne, NJ and graduated from Collingswood High School in 1974. He would go on to graduate from Helene Fuld Nursing School in 1991 and worked as a Registered Nurse for 28 years at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and Virtua Marlton Hospital.
Nicholas had a passion for sports. In his youth, he played football (where he captained the Collingswood team as a two-way award-winning linebacker and guard), baseball (where he once pitched a double-header), and basketball (where he lamented the lack of a three-point line in his day). He would go on to coach a variety of youth sports and was a lifelong fan of the Philadelphia teams. He enjoyed spending his summers in Wildwood with his family, including summers spent as a lifeguard. He found his calling in the operating room, where he won awards for his work on spines and joints and prided himself on the personal attention and care he gave each and every patient. Most of all, he loved his children, and went above and beyond in supporting them in every way he could.
A visitation will be held at St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 675 Cooper Landing Road, Cherry Hill, NJ on Saturday, August 21st at 9:00 AM. Mass to follow at 10:00 AM, with a reception for family afterward.
