Laughter is timeless, imagination has no age and dreams are forever. Michael F. McCurdy had a special sense of humor and an incomparable memory. He was generous, thoughtful and caring. Michael was a man of morals, dedicated to family and well adored for it. He was a passionate Phillies and sports fan, enjoyed a good manhattan and just loved yesterday, tomorrow and fantasy at Disney World. Today’s special moments are tomorrow’s memories.
Just as the tide slips away from the beach’s sand, on Thursday February 18, 2021 we learned how lucky we were to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard. Michael passed from his home in Stratford to the garden of memory in the palace of dreams.
Michael was born in Camden and had spent his formative years in Camden, Oaklyn, and more recently Stratford. He graduated from Camden Catholic High School, class of 1965 and earned his B.S. at LaSalle University in 1969. He later received his Masters from Central Michigan. His home had contributed to the manpower of our nation serving in the United States Marine Corps Reserves from 1971 to 1977. Michael made his career as a Contract Manager and worked for the New Jersey Hospital Association in Princeton before retiring a little over 10 years ago.
Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten. Mr. McCurdy is survived by his wife of 47 years, Maria (nee Baran) McCurdy. Michael is also survived by his siblings; Therese & her husband Ted Baker, Joe & his wife Cindy McCurdy and his sister-in-law Ursula & her husband Tony Talone as well as many nieces, nephews and other family members.
Relatives, friends and neighbors are invited to gather with the McCurdy family on Wednesday morning. We’ll be sharing our heartfelt stories between 10:00 am and 11:00 am at Our Lady Of Guadalupe Parish, St. Luke Church 55 Warwick Rd. Stratford where a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Inurnment will be held privately for immediate family only.
As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Camden Catholic High School 300 Cuthbert Rd. Cherry Hill, NJ 080002 www.camdencatholic.org or to Holy Name School 700 N. 5th St. Camden, NJ 08102 Att: Margaret Kent
