Mary C. Hunter

February 16, 1943 — June 4, 2024

Laurel Springs

There are only two kinds of people in this world. Irish, and those who wish they were! An Irish woman is one who feels deeply and loves fiercely. She can be hellfire and holy water. She’s both practical and spiritual. In essence, a gift. Our gift was Mary C. Hunter (nee Mudd). She was generous, faithful, and a determined hard worker. Mary was a bit of a clothes horse but she was outfitted for any occasion.

On Tuesday, June 4, 2024, we learned how terrible it is to love something death can touch. But a tear we couldn't find. You showed us how we are supposed to live. Now you showed us how to die. Mary passed away peacefully embraced by the love of her children at the Samaritan Center in Voorhees.

Mary was born in Philadelphia and had been a longtime Laurel Springs neighbor. She was a passionate sports fan cheering on Castellanos and her “Phightin’ Phils”. Oddly enough, during football season she cheers on the Washington Commanders. At home, she enjoyed the company of her cats, gardening, and cooking. Scrapple her way, was the best way. Mary was a movie buff. She enjoyed taking her family to the movies (smell that popcorn) and spending quiet nights at home. Just Netflix and chill finishing off each evening with a spot of tea.

Mary was predeceased by her late husband, Robert F. Hunter. She leaves to cherish her memory, her children Kevin Hunter, Natalie & her husband Eric Gerstenbacher. Mary was predeceased by her late sister Barbara Harper but is survived and will be sadly missed by her sisters; Patricia Flynn, Carol Fusco, her sister-in-law Lori Hunter as well as her many nieces and nephews.

Ceade Mile Failte… 100,000 welcomes are extended to our family, dear friends, and neighbors.  We’ll come together in tribute with craic and blarney to celebrate on Monday morning between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm at Creran Celebration 400 White Horse Pike, Oaklyn where a remembrance ceremony will begin at 1:00 pm. A graveside tribute and the witness of love’s reunion will conclude at Locustwood Memorial Park, Cherry Hill. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Samaritan Center at Voorhees www.samaritannj.org 265 Rt. 73, Voorhees, NJ 08043.
