Mark G Gundersen

June 15, 1956 — January 14, 2024

Cherry Hill

Pray to music, worship it in these desperate times. Fill your heart with every note. Music will set you free. They say that Music speaks where words fail and, that you should sing as if no one’s listening. Dance as if no one’s watching. It’s what makes you just a “lil bit special”.

If we can treat each other as if we are geniuses, poets and artists, we have a better chance of becoming that. Mark G. Gundersen, “We wish you were here”. He filled his days with casual jam sessions and his tunes with Emerson Lake & Palmer, Pink Floyd and Thin Lizzy.

On Sunday January 14, 2024, we hit a brick in the wall. Our father and “pop-pop” passed away at Cooper Hospital in Camden.

Mark was born in Camden and had been a Cherry Hill resident. He worked as a roofer and spent time at Fletcher Brother in Pennsauken before his retirement. Mark loved everything about classic rock, the guitar and jammin’ out good tunes. He loved his family and his dogs.

Mark is the son of Edward & Mary Jane (nee Mullan) Gundersen. He leaves the melody of his memory to be sustained by his longtime partner and confidant Kathy Giffins. Mark is survived by his daughters, Brittany & her husband Michael Kasama and Kirsten & her husband Dru Genther. He is the father of; Michele & her husband Ron Eife, Jennifer & her husband Andrew Dallegro, Tina Giffins, Timothy & his wife Deb Giffins. Mark is the proud “Pop Pop” of Marc, Penelope, Brody, Hudson, Levi and great grandfather of Blake. He is the grandfather of; Ethan, Hunter, Taylor, Madyson, Jaydia, Alliyah, Donald and Nathan. Mark is survived and will be sadly missed by his siblings, Mary Beth Anderson, David, Christopher and Michael Gundersen. Mark will be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews.

Relatives, friends, musicians and neighbors are invited to Mark’s jam sesion on Saturday afternoon. We’ll be jammin’ between 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm on Saturday at Creran Celebration Etherington & Creran Funeral Homes 400 White Horse Pike, Oaklyn where a remembrance ceremony will begin at 2:00 pm.
