You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are grey. You'll never know, dear how much I love you. Please, don't take my sunshine away. Marie M. Tevis (nee McIntyre) sang as the birds sing, not worrying about who hears or what they think and she always had something to sing about. Life is the song and love is the tune.
Over the past many years we lost time, we lost a little more of Mom/Nannie/Aunt Ri but we remembered her love when she could no longer remember. The heart never forgets because love is not a memory. It’s a feeling and it’s in our soul. On Sunday, December 12, 2021, time stood still. In the later part of the evening, Marie closed her eyes for the last time at Cambridge Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in Moorestown.
Marie was born in Olney and had spent her formative years in Philadelphia. Early on she had worked at Bell Telephone in Philadelphia then as a Nurse’s Aid at Zurbrugg Hospital in Riverside as well as “the old folks home” in Delanco. She always worked the third shift so she would always have time for her family. Marie filled her days with her family’s activities. She had been a cub scout leader in her children’s younger years and enjoyed crafting and singing while she was home.
Family is like music. There are some high notes, some low notes but it’s always a good tune. Marie lost her husband Richard a few years ago. Just before she started to lose her memory. She is survived by her children, Cynthia & her husband John Lyden, Barbara & her husband Joseph Iuvara, “her favorite” Rick Tevis, and “the last” Michele & her spouse Jacqueline Clark. Marie is the proud grandmother of; Victoria & her husband Michael Deery, Whitney Horton, Samantha Barbieri, Emily Horton, Gianna Iuvara, and her grand puppy “Duke”. She is the great-grandmother of Isabella Babalonia, Gabriella Babalonia , Alaina Otto, Elijah Horton, Allison Otto, Owen Deery, and Emma Velez. Mrs. Tevis is also survived and will be sadly missed by her brother Joseph McIntyre and her many nieces and nephews. Marie was predeceased by her brothers, the late Paul McIntyre, Donald McIntyre, and her late identical twin sister Joan Cooper.
Relatives, friends, and neighbors are invited to gather with the Tevis family. We’ll come together in tribute and thanksgiving on Sunday, January 9, 2022, between 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm at Creran Celebration Etherington & Creran Funeral Homes 400 White Horse Pike, Oaklyn where a remembrance ceremony will be celebrated at 1:00 pm by Pastor Chuck Mitchell. Inurnment and the witness of love’s reunions will be held privately. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Samaritan Hospice 3906 Church Rd. Mt. Laurel, NJ 08054 www.samaritannj.org or to Alzheimer’s New Jersey 425 Eagle Rock Ave. #203 Roseland, NJ 07068 www.alznj.org
