Margaret M. (McCormick) Lewis

September 2, 1953 — January 27, 2022

Some families are funny, some are messed up and some are just fine. If you think yours is crazy… you should see mine. Go big or go home! Margaret M. “Marge” Lewis (nee McCormick) was the matriarch, mom, and grandmom of this giant family, that everyone adored. Margie had a heart of gold but was known to be blunt and very matter-of-fact. If she wasn’t at the dollar tree she was hangin’ out with Pat and found you on Snapchat, no matter where you were or what you were doing. To the world, she may have been just a mother, but to her family, she was our world. Because she would not stop for death, suddenly on January, 27, 2022 he unexpectedly stopped for Margie at her apartment in Gloucester City. The carriage held but just Margie and immortality. She was either going to heaven in a wheelbarrow or hell in a shopping cart and we suddenly became next of kin to the wayward wind.

Margie had spent all of her days as a Gloucester City neighbor. She worked briefly as a housekeeper at the now-defunct Days Inn in Brooklawn. Her family was most important and she did enjoy making some wreaths and crafting. We all have her wreaths on our doors.

Margie is the daughter of the the late George & Catherine (nee Smith) McCormick. Mrs. Lewis was the doting wife and co-founder of the large Lewis family but was predeceased by her late husband, the junker and football coach, James E. “Jim Bo” Lewis in 2009. She is the mother of; Chrissy & her husband Ray, Danny & his wife Veronica, Katie & her husband John, Michael & his wife Alexis, Mark & his wife Lyndsie, Anthony & his wife Kayla, Tiffany & her husband Greg… last but certainly not least Lauren & her husband Pat. Marge is the proud grandmother of; R.J., Danaka, Madi, Alli, Bradon, Haylee, Bella, Bryce, Kaydence, Alex, Greyson, Avery, Daniel, Colton, M.J., Maci, McKenna, Emily, William and the late Benjamin Zuccarelli. Margie is the niece of Margaret Hargesheimer, Lorraine Smith and sister-in-law of Mary McCormick. She was predeceased by her sister Jackie Baker and her brothers; Carl, Charlie & George McCormick. Margie is survived by and will be sadly missed by her sister Diane & her husband Tom Wirt, he dear friend Pat Crain as well as her many nieces and nephews, especially; Michelle, her Goddaughter Angie, Mackenzie, and Cathy.

Relatives, friends, and neighbors are invited to gather with the Lewis family. We’ll be sharing our heartfelt stories, a lifetime in the “Holy City” and snapchatting between 11:00 and 12:00 pm at Creran Celebration Etherington & Creran Funeral Homes 700 Powell St. Gloucester City where a remembrance ceremony will begin at 12:00 pm. A graveside tribute will immediately follow at Woodbury Memorial Park. #crerancelebration #heartfelt
