On May 21, 2024, we bid farewell to a remarkable soul, Lois M Medoro (nee Rouh), who passed away at ManorCare Health Services - West Deptford. She was a beacon of light and love to all who had the privilege of loving her. One day we will know her love with wonder, not grief.
Lois’ circle of days began in Camden, NJ, her journey was filled with diverse experiences from her early days. She started as a waitress and worked at many diners before going to work as a switchboard operator working at the Bourse Building. She returned to waitressing, as her kids were growing, working at Gloucester Diner and Weber’s Diner. She returned to switchboard working for PSE&G in Camden then Burlington. After moving to Villas she worked as a hostess at Urie’s and then at the switchboard at Marquis de Layfatte hotel in Cape May, Lois' work ethic and dedication were apparent.
Her heartwarming personality was truly unforgettable; she was welcoming and had an outgoing charm that drew people towards her. Lois found joy and solace in heirloom crochet work and held a deep-rooted faith that guided her every step.
Lois served as a Eucharistic Minister for the Church of St. Raymond in The Villas – a testament to her unwavering commitment to her community and her spiritual beliefs. In her leisure time, she delighted in playing pogo, canasta, and was an avid bingo player. These simple pleasures brought her immense happiness and connected her with loved ones in moments of joy and laughter.
Lois leaves behind cherished memories for many to hold dear. She is survived by her children: Deborah & Michael Collarin, Regina Sibilia, Michael & Cherrie Medoro, and Ronald Medoro (Carol Todd). She is the proud grandmother of, Dominique (nee Collarin) & Chris Higgins, Michael (Meredith Besecker), Antonio & Alyssa Sibilia, Gia Sibilia, Michelle Medoro, Michael Medoro, Kristina (nee Newton) & Kevin Antreassian, Laura Medoro, Ronald Medoro Jr. and 4 great-grandchildren that affectionately called her “GGmom”. Lois is also survived and will be sadly missed by her brother: William Rouh Sr.; and many nieces and nephews.
Lois was predeceased by her parents William & Lauretta “Lottie” (nee Farsing) Rouh; her husbands Bertram Newton and Anthony Medoro; her son Bertram Newton Jr. and her siblings Margaret Gimello, Virginia Dick, Annie Rouh, and baby William Rouh.
A somber aura surrounds us as we mourn the loss of Lois M Medoro but also celebrate the vibrant life she lived. Her presence will be deeply missed but her spirit will forever linger in our hearts.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday morning at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church 426 Monmouth St. Gloucester. Interment will be held privately at the Cape May County Veterans Cemetery.
May Lois rest in eternal peace surrounded by the love that she so generously shared with all who knew her.
