Passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, August 20, 2013. Len was a graduate of Audubon High School class of 1941. He served as Staff Sergeant in the Marines during WWII and received a letter of commendation during the consolidation of the Northern Solomons Campaign in the Pacific Theater. After his time in the service, he attended Temple University and went on to work for RCA in Camden as a contract coordinator for 30 years. While he and his wife Doris were raising their two children, he volunteered his time coaching basketball, Audubon Girl's softball and the American Legion baseball teams. He was also a member of the Audubon High School Alumni Assoc. and served on the AHS Board of Education for 9 years. Len was Past Commander of Murray-Troutt Post #262 American Legion in Audubon and an active member for over 68 years volunteering wherever needed.

Len is the beloved husband of 67 years to Doris (nee Renshaw); loving father of Linda Kates and Robert Kates & his wife Rosemary; cherished grandfather of Lisa White (Jeremiah), Robert Kates, Jr. & Heather Kates; great grandfather of Teddy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Len is predeceased by his brothers and sisters the late Doris, Helen, William and Wesley.

Family and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Monday August 26th from 11AM-12:30PM at the HENRY FUNERAL HOME, 152 W Atlantic Ave, Audubon, NJ 08106. A Military Tribute will be given by Post #262 at 12:15PM followed by Services at 12:30PM Rev. Dr. Walter Jesuncosky officiating. Burial with Honors at Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery. The family has requested as an expression of sympathy donations to: Shriners Hospital for Children, 3551 North Broad Street, Phila., PA 19140 (215-430-4000)
