Larry G. Melrose

October 2, 1945 — October 2, 2024

Delanco

It’s the sweet, simplest things in life that are the real ones after all. They are the most extraordinary and bring the most happiness. Larry G. “Mel” Melrose was a quiet, kind, and gentle soul who filled his days with life’s simple things. If we can all treat each other as if we were geniuses, poets, and artists, we have a better chance and becoming just that. He loved to roll up his sleeves and work on cars. It’s how he made his living. Larry enjoyed stamp collecting, piecing together his family’s history and ancestry, and of course, his lawn!

There’s so much potential in a day of birth. Should be a cause to celebrate. Not a day to mourn. From the innocence of childhood to the wisdom of age, Larry’s circle of days was a perfectly poignant symmetry between sunrise on October 2, 1945, and sunset on October 2, 2024.

Larry’s circle of days began amongst change in the brilliance of earthy autumn colors in Cherokee, OK. He spent his early life and formative years in Sunny California. True love is the soul's recognition of its counterpoint in another. He was established in love in October of 1968 and married the following year enjoying 55 years of a loving marriage raising their family in Delanco.

Mr. Melrose contributed to the manpower of our great nation and upheld the ideals of our American freedoms in the U.S. Air Force. You can say Larry was a “gearhead” He was a longtime mechanic making his career for over 45 years before finishing his working days as an automotive instructor, for 12 years, at BCIT in Medford. At home, he cheered on his Phillies, Eagles and O-H-I-O! Loved his beach vacations in Wildwood.

Mr. Melrose is survived by his loving and doting wife, Evelyn (nee Knight) Melrose, and is the father of Pam (Mike) Melrose. He is the proud “Pop Pop” of Amelia and will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews; Jon Demi, Amy Demi, Jason Knight, and Christine Knight as well as his great niece and nephew Charlie & Katie.

The time-honored tradition of reuniting those we love with nature will be held privately.
