Family is like music. Some high notes, some low notes but always a good song. Kenneth J. Messick carried an easygoing tune of silliness, compassion, and care. He was fastidious and very well organized.
On Friday, December 2, 2022, we boxed up all 65 years of Ken’s yesterdays and neatly put them away.
Ken was born in Camden and had been a longtime Pennsauken resident. He made his career at Lockheed Martin in Moorestown and had just recently retired. At home, he jammed on his basement drums, was challenged by Jeopardy, and loved cheering on the “Phightin’ Phils”.
Ken leaves to cherish his memory, his longtime soulmate, Sherry Schwartz. He is survived by his siblings; Geraldine & her husband Dennis Hess, Jack & his wife Laura Messick and was predeceased by his brother Neil Messick. Ken is also survived by his step-children; Edward & his wife Oahn Le Schwartz, Keith Schwartz, Danielle & her husband Frank Mitchell and Debra & her husband Herman Winters, his nephew Thomas & his wife Tiffani, niece Lisa and his great nieces Amalia and Layla. Ken is the proud grandfather of 6 grandchildren and will be sadly missed by Kiwi and Puffy.
Relatives, friends, and neighbors are invited to gather with the Messick family on Saturday morning between 10:00 am and 11:00 am at Creran Celebration Etherington & Creran Funeral Homes 400 White Horse Pike, Oaklyn. A graveside tribute will immediately follow at New St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bellmawr. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Humane Society of Camden County www.humanecamden.org 125 County House Rd. Blackwood, NJ 08012.
