John H. “Reds” Hyer, Jr., passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at Elmwood Hills Health & Rehabilitation in Blackwood. Mr. Hyer was a longtime, beloved, and great Oaklyn neighbor. He was quite simply a good man. His home had contributed to the manpower of our great nation upholding the ideals of our American freedoms in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam. He made his career in sales at Rice & Holman in Pennsauken and loved to cheer on the Phightin Phils. “Reds” had also been a huge supporter of the Haddon Twp. girls basketball team, where his son John had been an assistant coach.
“Reds” was the loving husband of and predeceased by his wife, the late Barbara (nee Taylor) Hyer, and his son, the late John J. Hyer, III. John leaves to cherish his memory, his son Christopher as well as his siblings Nora and Gerrylynn. “Reds” will also be deeply missed by his next-door neighbors Ron & his wife Christine Kite and their daughters; Samantha, Ali, and Julia.
The Hyer family have chosen to take comfort in each other and share their heartfelt stories privately.
