Take advice from the ocean. Be shore of yourself. Come out of your shell. Take time to coast and avoid pier pressure. Sea life’s beauty, don't let the tide down and make waves! John T. DeRose, Sr. loved being at the shore. He enjoyed traveling, was well-organized, and always prepared. He was generous, caring, and sincere. The word “no” had never crossed his lips. If you knew him. You simply loved him. If we can treat each other as if we are geniuses, poets, and artists, we have a better chance of becoming just that.
Sometimes, only one person is missing and the whole world seems depopulated but, old souls ain’t born and don’t die. Souls ain’t made of earth and they ain’t made of sky. On Wednesday, May 22, 2024, just before the unofficial start of summer, after 82 trips around the warm sun, John’s tide slipped away from the sand and his soul rose like incense to a place that must be pretty nice. No one has ever wanted to come back. See you soon.
John was born in Philadelphia, PA, and had spent his recent years, at his favorite place, in Longport. He enjoyed cooking and spending time with his family. John was an avid bowler and just loved playing Bingo! There was nothing he really needed but always had to make a trip to Costco or Sam's Club. John made his career working in transportation and logistics as a Transportation Director at the Philadelphia Navy Yard. After retirement, he found joy and a way to occupy his time driving a bus for the Ventnor City School District.
