John T. "Jack", Sr.
Jack "Lefty" Creaney passed at Samaritan Hospice, Virtua Hospital, Mt. Holly on Wednesday July 18, 2007 at the age of 83. Jack grew up in Runnemede and lived in Audubon for over 44 years. He graduated from Audubon High School class of 1942, played basketball and baseball, and is a member of the alumni association. He will be remembered as one of Audubon's biggest and dearest fans. He could be found around the baseball and softball fields of Audubon, GCC, Rutgers, Hofstra & Rowan's fields watching his children and grandchildren play ball. He coached and helped start youth basketball in Audubon. He was a left-handed pitcher for the Brooklyn Dodgers system in 1949, RCA from 1942-1949 and the industrial league. He was a member of the Camden Hot Stovers for over 10 years. He played semi-pro league basketball in Norristown, PA under coach Herb Good. In 1994, Jack was elected into the Al Carino SJ Basketball Hall of Fame. He worked as an automobile salesman for over 30 years before his retirement to Okeechobee, FL. While in Florida, he was a bass fishing guide. In 2001 he returned to Franklinville and with his wife they continued to follow the local sports scene.
He was a member of West Jersey F&AM Lodge #15 since 1952 and a member of the Franklinville United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Ruth M.(nee Jones); son Garry (Nancy) of Magnolia, daughter Sharon (Dan) DeHart of NH, son John, Jr. (Christina)of Atco; grandchildren Garry(Karen) Creaney, Cindy(Brian)Horn all of Burlington Twp, Tina(Ray) Seitzinger, Eric & Lindsay Creaney all of Atco, Daniel & Caroline of NH, Scott(Erin)Ellis of Waterford, Shawn Ellis of Magnolia; 7 great grandchildren: Connor, Shannon, Aiden, Logan, Aaron, Brady, Alyssa; his sister & brother-in-law LaVerne & Harry Clem, 2 nieces and many dear friends.
The family invites friends to attend a Memorial Service with Reflections of Jack's Life on Friday July 27th from 6:00PM - 8:00PM at the HENRY FUNERAL HOME, 152 W. Atlantic Ave, Audubon,NJ 08106. A funeral service will be held on Saturday July 28th at 11:00AM in the Franklinville United Methodist Church, 1525 Coles Mill Road, Franklinville where friends may call from 10:00AM - 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Samaritan Hospice, 5 Eves Drive - Suite 300, Marlton, NJ
08053 or to the Camden Hot Stovers to further a child's education at Hotstovers Baseball Club of S.J.,
