John L. Clifford

December 29, 1939 — April 1, 2018

On April 1, 2018, of Williamstown, NJ, age 78. He was the beloved husband for 54 years of Sandy (nee Harris), loving father of Michelle Gillespie (Joseph) and John W. Clifford (Denise), and dear brother of Elizabeth Rodgers and the late Mary Jane Clifford and Shirley Quinn. He is also survived by his dear grandchildren John, Brennan, Charles, Kasey, Morgan, great grandchild Phoenix and many nieces, nephews and cousins. John was a lifelong resident of Gloucester City and a member of the 1957 graduating class of Gloucester High School. He was a Navy Veteran who served on the USS Aircraft Carrier Bennington CVS-20. John was a lifetime member and former Commander of Townsend C. Young VFW Post 3620, a member of the Williamstown American Legion Post 252 and was a diehard Eagles Fan. Relatives and friends are invited to meet Saturday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at the ETHERINGTON-CRERAN FUNERAL HOME, 700 POWELL ST., GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ. John's Funeral Service will be held 12:00 Noon at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Monroe Twp., NJ. In lieu of flowers his family would appreciate memorial donations be made Townsend C. Young VFW Post 3620 Museum Fund, 27 N.
