On October 23, 2024, James R. Lannon, Sr. passed away peacefully at home, relieved of all pain & suffering. Jim is surely zipping through the Heavens on his Harley or one of his many beloved Corvettes.
The world is full of wonder, all we have to do is look around & see it. So, live a life without regret, full of love, laughter & adventure. Wherever Jim found himself, it became a piece of him. Life is short, but the world is wide, go explore & create lasting memories with those you love. Build your legacy, as Jim has done.
Jim was a hard-working man with a huge & loyal heart. He was the life of the party, a friend to all, & a master of conversation. Jim had a knack for making everyone feel special, often greeting friends & family with unique nicknames that reflected their bond. His adventurous spirit was evident in his passions. He loved the thrill of motorcycles, and muscle cars, the freedom of the open road, and the exhilaration of a simple day spent by the beach or on the water on his boat. Jim will be missed, but his spirit will forever inspire us to embrace life with the same zest he always had.
The Lannon family has lost a great man, but the example he set of hard work, determination, loyalty, fun & love will never be forgotten. Jim was born in Camden, raised in Pennsauken & had been a longtime resident of Gloucester City, NJ. He was self-employed, making his career as the proud owner & operator of Eagle Oil Company, later renamed Eagle Services, for nearly four decades. His enthusiasm didn't stop there. Jim had a deep appreciation for travel, history, and science fiction & was a member of the C4 Corvette Club. Whether indulging in a slice of Mack's Pizza or spending time on his cherished boat the "Loose Moose', Jim created countless memories with those he loved.
Jim is survived by his loving & doting wife, Anna May Beck Lannon, whom he adored with every fiber of his being from the day they met. Together they shared a beautiful, exciting & full life. Jim is the proud stepfather of Joanna Silvestro (nee Murphy) & David Murphy (Helena Suazo), father to Heather Lannon, Amber Lannon, Damie Jay Conner {Brian), Harrum Battaloni (Brett), James "Jimmy" Lannon, Jr. (Jessica Cobb) & predeceased by his son, Damon Ray Lannon. He cherished his role as the proud Pop Pop to Shane, Alanna, Sara Lena, Kevin, Michael, Christian, Nicholas, Joseph, Lily, Autumn, Summer & Jenna, as well as 4 great-grandchildren, Preston Jr., Angel Baby Gabriel, Sevanna Sue & Semara Rose.
Jim is survived & will be missed deeply by his sisters, Irene "Reenie" Wible (Frank), Evelyn "Evie" Mina (Joe) & Harry Lannon (Lisa) as well as his aunt Evie & Uncle Denny O'Brien and many nieces, nephews, brothers & sisters-in-laws & friends. He was predeceased by his loving parents, Raymond & Bertha (nee Janice) Lannon, & his siblings Raymond "Ray" Lannon, Joyce Warwick (Frank), Robert "Bob" Lannon (Linda) & Mary Gleeson (Dave Armstrong), as well as his mother-in-law Anna May Beck (nee Riley).
Jim's memory will forever ride on the winds of adventure & his legacy will continue in the hearts of all who knew & loved him. Relatives, friends, neighbors, guests & loyal customers are invited to gather in tribute to celebrate a life well lived on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, between 1-3 PM at Creran Celebration: Etherington & Creran Funeral Home, 700 Powell Street in Gloucester City, followed by a remembrance ceremony to begin at 3 PM. In lieu of flowers, his family requests contributions to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, as it was an important charity that Jim held dear as a donor for many years.
