Mitzi was a certified water safety instructor having spent decades teaching swimming and life saving courses throughout Camden Co. for the American Red Cross. She was a founding member of the Oaklyn Swim Club, where she gave swimming and diving lessons, coached the swim team and in the early years ran the water ballet program for youth members ages 7 through high school. She had also been responsible for the American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Campaign in Oaklyn for many years. This program gave all the borough's students the opportunity to learn how to swim. Mitzi was also passionate about working with the disabled making sure they too had the opportunity to learn to swim and to feel the freedom in the water they were unable to have on land. She worked at the Jewish Community Center in Cherry Hill and the Coliseum in Voorhees, teaching all people and ages how to swim. Mitzi was also a talented artist, painting many pieces of artwork for family and friends. She loved reading and haunted the book stores looking for the latest titles of her favorite authors.
Mitzi had been widowed since 1990, when her soulmate Lawrence "Larry" Boggs passed away suddenly. They met when she was but a sweet young high school senior and Larry was recently discharges from the US Navy, having served during WWII on a PT boat in South Pacific. Larry was working as a pin setter at the bowling alley in Oaklyn where they met and fell in love. They married in 1947 and were only separated by his death. May they now be having a joyous reunion for all of eternity.
Mitzi's funeral service will be private at the request of her family
