Winnie the Pooh said, “How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard?” If you lived to be a hundred, then we want to live to be a hundred… minus one day. We never wanted to live without you. The past many years have been difficult ones. Slowly, the tides had steadily slipped away from her beach’s sand. Hallie “Cissy” Steelman (nee Neeld) was only able to give us 72 years before her sun had set over the ocean’s horizon on Friday, March 14, 2025, from Inspira Hospital in Mullica Hill. We were left with your absence in the spaces where the laughter used to linger. One day we will get to know your love with wonder, not grief.
Cissy was a country gal whose sun rose up in Greensboro, NC, during the spring of 1952. She had spent her more recent years in Deptford. Home is the starting place of hopes and dreams. It's where love resides, memories are created, friends always belong, and laughter never ends. Cissy was a dedicated, doting wife, mother sister, grandmother, and friend. She meticulously took care of and decorated her home for each holiday. She raised and shaped her family around baseball, the beach, and Oh, those Wildwood Days. She enjoyed traveling, enjoying trips to the happiest place on earth… Disney, wrestling the one-arm bandits at the casinos or wherever Harry’s baseball took them. Cissy enjoyed sipping on a few ice-cold Coors Lights, and cheerin’ on the Phightin’ Phils while amassing her lifelong collection of flip-flops. To the world, Cissy, you were just a mother, but to your family, you were our world.
Mrs. Steelman is survived by and was established in love with her husband Harry Steelman 35 years ago. She leaves to cherish her memory, her children; Kristen & her husband Keith Watermasysk, Hallie & her husband Paul Seibel, Stewart Ackroyd, Jessica & her husband James Gaddis, and Marc Steelman. She is the proud grandmother of; Kari, Caitlynn, Tyler, Kollin, Ryan, Sean, Alyson, Kelsey, Kaylee, Stewie, Ethan, Madison, Natali, Henry, Julia, Amelia, and Jessica. Hallie is also survived and will be sadly missed by her siblings; Bobby, Billy, Brenda, Gloria, Barb, and Dot as well as her many dear friends.
Relatives, friends, and neighbors are invited to gather with the Steelman family. We’ll come together in tribute and thanksgiving to take comfort in each other on Friday afternoon between 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm at Creran Celebration Etherington & Creran Funeral Homes 700 Powell St. Gloucester where a funeral ceremony will be celebrated at 6:00 pm. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, contributions in Cissy’s memory can be made to the American Cancer Society by clicking the link below.
