GLORIA DORAN
Gloria Rita (nee Valerio) peacefully on Saturday, December 9, 2017, at age 93,where she resided at St Mary's Nursing Home in Cherry Hill, NJ. Gloria previously resided in Philadelphia Pa & Oaklyn NJ.
Daughter to the late Giovanni "John" Valerio and Maria "Mary" DiMeo. Also predeceased by her husband Lawrence A. Doran; son Lawrence J. Doran; brother Ernest "Ernie" Valerio; and sisters Michelina "Lena" DiClerico; Christina Calabrese; and Helen Lamar.
Born and raised in the Bella Vista section of Philadelphia, Gloria was well liked in her tight knit Italian neighborhood. She worked at RCA Camden in support of the allied mission during WWII. Her favorite pastimes included watching old movies, Chinese food, long walks, reading a good book, attending her grandchildren's activities, family gatherings and visits to the old neighborhood when she was able.
Gloria is survived by her devoted daughter Colleen& son-in-law Michael McMenamin. She is the cherished"Gram" to Erin (Adam) Hess and James (Holly) McMenamin. Great grandmother to Quinn McMenamin and Vera Hess. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank all the caregivers at St Mary's Nursing Home and Samaritan Hospice for the attentive care given Gloria.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation at Wednesday morning from 10:00 to 11:00a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, St Aloysius RC Church, 37 W. Haddon Ave., Oaklyn, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Samaritan Hospice, 5 Eves Drive, Suite 300, Marlton, NJ 08053. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Creran Funeral Home, Oaklyn, NJ
