You could read quite a story in the calluses and the lines, Years of hard work had left their mark behind. I remember his hands, how they held mama tight and patted my back when I done right. I'll always remember the love in Dad's hands. Miss me, but let me go. Please don't shed your tears, be happy we had so many years. George J. Timm, Jr. passed away on Tuesday September 6, 2011 at the age of 71.
George spent his whole life in Philadelphia. During his early years, 4th & Susquehanna was his neighborhood and he later moved up to Mutter & West Moreland Sts. It was here that his neighbor became his sweetheart and then his dedicated wife of 40 years after George proposed on 95. They were engaged on the promise of a telephone wire "ring".
Mr. Timm will be fondly remembered as hot tempered and stubborn but was a hard working father and husband. George made a career as an Iron Worker and had worked at Stur-Dee in Philadelphia for 12 years before retiring in 2001.George was passionate about his political views and loved spending time in Wildwood or at home throwin money at his card games. Most of all he loved his family and spent a lot of time with his grandchildren. There was nothing better than "Pop-Pop's pancakes" or his "stories".
George is survived by his wife of 40 years Catherine "Kitty" Timm and his daughter Kathi & her husband Patrick Applegate. He is the proud grandfather of 3 and brother of Thomas, Robert, Helen, Ruth & Dolores.
