Music is the strongest form of magic. It creates something that people can connect to. And that’s what good music does. It speaks to you. It changes you. No matter the notes, no matter the rhythms, at the end of the song you feel something. That was our composer, George P. Stebner, Jr. His song of life gave us happiness and brought us 79 years of jokes, Donald Duck voices, and the best note of all-love. George P. Stebner, Jr. passed away at 79 years old at Cooper University Hospital in Camden. Music is the literature of the heart; where words fail, music speaks.
He was born on August 5, 1942, to the late George and Frances Stebner (nee Encapera) in Edgewater, NJ. George was a lover of all things music, boating, and flying. He was strong in his faith and was a part of a men’s prayer group at church. He was also a grief facilitator through Griefshare. George had a strong sense of humor and could be stubborn at times. Smiling is definitely one of the best forms of medicine. If you have a good sense of humor and a good approach to life, that's beautiful.
George is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife, Amelia Stebner (nee Manzo), his biological children Denise Hilbert and her husband Bill,Tracy Hilbert, his step-son Philip Manzo as well as his brother, Ken Stebner. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Billy Hilbert, Jimmy Hilbert and his wife Lauren,Timmy Hilbert and his wife Kris, Daniel Hilbert and his girlfriend Tori, as well as his great-grandchildren; Samantha, Skye, Dominic, Isabelle, Anakin, Charlie, Lexi, and Nichole. Call it a clan, call it a network, call it a tribe, call it a family: Whatever you call it, whoever you are, you need one.
Relatives and friends are invited to join George’s family on Friday, January 7 between 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm at Highland Park Church of God, 111 Baynes Ave, Gloucester City where a memorial ceremony will begin at 4:00 pm.
