Frank Whylings, age 83 of Audubon, passed away at home on Thursday October 15, 2009.
Mr. Whylings was born in Camden and had been a resident of Audubon since 1954. Frank faithfully defended his country in the U.S. Navy serving during WWII and the Korean War. He made his career at Philadelphia Gas Works (PGW) and had retired, after 32 years, in 1988. Mr. Whylings was a congregant of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Haddon Heights and had been a member of the American legion Murray-Trout Post 262. Frank, known as "Pops" was a longtime and respected coach in the Audubon Little League and had been inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Frank is the beloved husband of 63 years to Ethel (nee Donahue) and is the loving father of Michael (Maryanne), John (Cindy), Candy (Bob) Shanley and the late Kathleen. Frank is the proud grandfather of Peter, Michael, Joe, Jenna, Max, Alex, Kyle, Jack, Kathy and great grandfather of Donovan and Ethan.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the Whylings family to remember and pay tribute to Frank on Monday between 6 and 8 pm at the funeral home and on Tuesday, at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Green St. & White Horse Pike, in the west room, between 10 and 11 am where Burial office and Holy Eucharist will be celebrated at 11 am. Interment and military honors will follow at Harleigh Cemetery, Camden.
