Evelyn V. Wilson

Evelyn V. Wilson (nee Eckert), age 83 of Audubon Park, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday October 14, 2008.

Mrs. Wilson was born in Philadelphia and had been a resident of Audubon Park for the past 61 years. Evelyn had been raised as a foster child after her mother passed away early in her life and will be fondly remembered as a strong willed and independent woman. She worked at Campbell Soups in Camden as a vegetable sorter for 25 years and had retired in 1981. Mrs. Wilson loved roses and tending to her rose garden. She enjoyed deep sea fishing in the Delaware Bay and spending time with her best friend (the late) Florence Briody. Evelyn was an avid baseball fan and had cheered for her favorite team the Atlanta Braves.

Mrs. Wilson is the wife of the late George H. Wilson and is the mother of Lana & her husband Roy Beers of TX and George H. & his wife Young Wilson of VA. Evelyn is the proud grandmother of Roy and Cheryl Beers and will be sadly missed by her brother Harry Eckert her sisters Mary (nee Eckert) and Alice McGuckin, her nephew John McGuckin, her niece Alice McGarrigle all of South Philadelphia and her two cats Calay and Angel.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the Wilson family to remember and pay tribute to Evelyn on Monday morning between 10 and 11 am at the funeral home where a remembrance ceremony will begin at 11 am. Interment and graveside tribute will follow at Beverly National Cemetery 911 Bridgeboro Rd. Beverly. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers donations can be made to Holy Redeemer Hospice 150 Ninth Ave. Runnemede, NJ 08078
