Edward J Moorby

October 12, 1926 — June 1, 2012

Age 85, of Cherry Hill, NJ passed away on Friday June 1, 2012 at Bright View Greentree Assisted Living in Marlton, NJ.

Ed was born in Oaklyn, NJ, spent his youth in Audubon, and had been a resident of Cherry Hill for well over 50 years. He was a graduate of the Audubon High School class of 1945. After high school, Ed joined the US Army and served during WWII in the 1380th Army Air Force Unit in Argentia, Newfoundland, receiving the American Campaign and Victory Medals. He was joint owner, with his father and brother, of Moorby Flowers, Inc. in center city Philadelphia for 20 years. He later worked for Philco Ford Corp. in Blue Bell, PA as a model maker, and also worked for Bridge Machine Co. in Palmyra, NJ as a machine shop supervisor. Ed was a 20 year member and instructor of the Delaware River Power Squadron in Philadelphia, and a member of the Sassafras River Yacht Club in Maryland, where he served as commodore. He also liked flying and had his private pilot's license.

Ed was the husband of the late Marjorie H. (nee Heebner) Moorby and brother of the late Donald W. Moorby. He is survived by his brother Charles S. Moorby of Haddon Heights, as well as four nieces, two nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday morning June 15th, 2012 from 10 - 11 AM at the HENRY FUNERAL HOME, 152 West Atlantic Ave., Audubon, NJ, where a Memorial Service will follow at 11 AM. Inurnment with Military Honors will take place at Lakeview Memorial Park, Route 130 North, Cinnaminson, NJ, followed by a luncheon at the Coastline Restaurant, 1240 Brace Rd., Cherry Hill, NJ.
