Edward A Harmon

Strategy requires thought, tactics require observation. Action is the real measure of intelligence. There was no grass under Edward A. Harmon’s feet. He was funny, loud and extremely intelligent. In fact, he’s never lost a game of chess. Edward was a prankster who loved to joke around and tell funny stories. John Wayne said “Tomorrow hopes we learned something from yesterday.” Ed loved to learn about and work on restoring old cars, new card tricks and taught himself how to play the guitar by ear. That was his passion and was very talented with it. Fear was one of the many words that Edward didn’t know the meaning of.

After a brief illness, and just 67 years, Monday January 11, 2021 was the day Edward Allen Harmon felt sunlight on his face. Like dust into the clouds, he disappeared without a trace, to a place where the streets have no name.

Ed was born in Mineral Wells, TX and had spent many years in many places including Texas, Spain, Washington D.C., where he graduated from Potomac High School, in Oxon Hill, MD, class of 1971. Later, he attended Lincoln Tech Mechanical School. He then graduated from Control Data Institute ( 2nd in his class) with a degree in Field Service Engineering. He then lived in Harrisburg PA where he worked as a field service engineer trouble shooter for Three Mile Island before and during the melt down.  He was then recruited by System Industries to relocate to New Jersey where he’s made his home since 1982. Edward retired from Northrop Grumman Technologies where he serviced B52 planes control boards. At home, he enjoyed studying history, WWII and the great John Wayne. He was an avid “Washington Football Team” fan, known to him as the Redskins, was unbeatable playing Texas Hold ‘em and enjoyed the movies. Especially “Nacho Libre.” He loved to quote Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean movie and Ace Ventura. He was also  a collector of trinkets.  The smaller the trinket the better. Ed will fondly be remembered as a loving father.

Ed is the son of the late Ralph & his wife Yukie (nee Fujitmitsu) Harmon, Sr. and step-son of Norman Williams, Emma Harmon and the late Carolyn Harmon. He is survived by his children; Angela Harmon, Charlene Hancock, Bryant Harmon, Heather Harmon, Kylie Harmon, Brittany Mullaney and the late Piper Harmon. He is the proud grandfather of; Samantha Reed, Derek Harmon, Cash Hancock, Jaxxon Hoffman, Christopher Mullaney, Zarias Alexa and great grandfather of Landyn Gannon. He is also survived and will be sadly missed by his former wives; Debra Love and Laura Ebron. Ed is the brother of Denise “Nisi” & her husband Ray Bojanowski, Janis Harmon, Ralph “Chico” Harmon, Jr., the late Christine Harmon and uncle of Michael Harmon, Jessica Bittman, Derek Harmon and Matthew Harmon.

Relatives, friends and neighbors are invited to gather with the Harmon family on Saturday afternoon. We’ll be sharing stories, telling jokes, jamming U2 and Depeche Mode between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm at Creran Celebration Etherington & Creran Funeral Homes 400 White Horse Pike Oaklyn where a remembrance ceremony will begin at 4:00 pm. The time honored tradition of reuniting those we love with nature will be held privately.
