All that glitters is gold. The most important thing is to live a fabulous life. As long as it’s fabulous, it doesn’t matter how long it is. Sing like no one’s listening, love like you’ve never been hurt, dance like nobody’s watching, live! It’s heaven on earth. David M. “Jake” Bowker was “extravagant”, “over the top” and “extra”. “Jake was shore of himself, lived loud outside of his shell, took time to sea life’s beauty and made waves. This life given to us by nature is short. But, the memory of a life well spent is eternal. On Thursday October 6, 2022, after 53 bright years, the bling grew dim and David’s tide quietly slipped away from beach’s sand. Jake, you are never too far gone for a memory.
David was born in Stratford and spent his entire circle of days in Oaklyn. During his formative years, he appeared on Philadelphia’s “Dancin On Air” television series. He was deeply interested in British history and loved spending time in Wildwood on the beach and boardwalk. Oh, those Wildwood Days! “Jake” was a shopper and loved to just get out. He was always “dolled up” and very particular about his appearance. David had worked at Merry Go Round in the Deptford Mall and later Kirklands in Cherry Hill. At home, he enjoyed watching football, the Eagles, and cheering on Kansas City’s Patrick Mahomes. “Jake”, we thought of you in love today, but that is nothing new.
Your memory is our keepsake, with which we’ll never part. We have you forever in our hearts. David is the son of the late David Bowker. He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother Carol Ann (nee Phillips) Matson, his brother Dan & his wife Angela Matson as well as his nieces and nephews; Daniel, Jr., Nick, Samantha, Madelyn & his fur babies Chloe & Taylor. He is also survived and will be sadly missed by his long-time devoted friend, Justine Brown. “Jake” was “Daddy Dave” to Allie and Benjamin and a proud grandfather figure to Sebastian, Thea & fur baby Shorty
Heaven is my home. I'm just traveling through this world as God is my pilot.
Relatives, friends and neighbors are invited to gather with Jake’s family. We’ll be sharing our heartfelt stories on Thursday evening between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm at Creran Celebration Etherington & Creran Funeral Homes 400 White Horse Pike, Oaklyn. Interment will be held privately.
