Clarence G. Kelly
Clarence Garfield Kelly passed away peacefully, surrounded by friends and fellow veterans on April 15, 2021. Clarence or “Jim” as he was known by his friends, was a long time Gloucester City resident who was active in the Gloucester City Democrat Club and the Rotary. Clarence served as an infantryman, driver and chef for 20+ years in New Jersey’s Army National Guard. He also drove delivery trucks and tractor trailers for UPS logging countless miles with no accidents.
Clarence loved to travel, cook, eat out at local restaurants, frequent yard sales and play cards and checkers with his friends. He rarely missed watching a Phillies game and always greeted everyone with a broad smile. In addition, he often gave out one of his signature $2 bills or small measuring tapes to children or people who waited on him in local stores. Clarence was truly a Gloucester City Character with Character and he will be missed!
Interment is private and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Gloucester City – Brooklawn Rotary Club at PO Box 96, Gloucester City, NJ 08030. https://www.facebook.com/gloucestercityrotaryclub
