CHERYL KAY CAMMAROTA

( nee Deuter)

On Tuesday, April 12, 2022 time stood still for a fleeting moment. After 66 years we gave Cheryl away from time and let go of her hand to eternity.

Cheryl began her circle of life on July 4th, 1955 at Lady of Lourdes hospital in Camden, NJ. She grew up in Deptford, NJ, and later was a long-time resident of Collingwood, NJ. Cheryl was incredibly loyal to family and friends and never met a stranger, only potential friends. She was an earthly angel who loved life, laughter, and her husband Paul. Cheryl had a cutting wit, loved her wine, and was the “fashionista” always decked out in her “bling."

At home, Cheryl cheered on the Phillies, enjoyed reading while sipping a glass of her favorite Kendall Jackson Chardonnay. She loved dancing to 50s and 60s music, and especially to 2 songs by Van Morrison that held special meaning to Cheryl and Paul. Their wedding song, " Have I Told You Lately, That I Love you." and "Someone Like You."

Cheryl's and Paul's prayers were answered when Cheryl moved next door to Paul. A love blossomed that turned into 29 years of marriage.

Cheryl worked as a legal secretary for Wolf, Block Law Firm in Philadelphia, for 30+ years. In 2014, Cheryl was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's disease and Aphasia, (a loss of verbal communication skills.) In the past 8 years, she endured the inevitable decline of Alzheimer's. We lost a truly beautiful soul in Cheryl, but the heart never forgets because love is not a memory. It’s a feeling and it’s in our soul.

Cheryl leaves us to cherish her memory and is survived by her husband Paul Cammarota and her sisters Sandra & her husband Ed Capell and Valerie Deuter Cabrera. She was predeceased by her brother “P.J.” Paul Deuter and is survived by her stepchildren; Angela Cammarota, Vincent Cammarota & his wife Maria, and Nicole Orlosky & her husband Daniel. Cheryl was MomMom Cheri to her only step-grandchild Kaitlyn Cammarota, loving Aunt of Zachery Cappell and Daniel Carbrera. Sister-in-law of Linda Richey (Lance), Susan Walsh (George), and David Cammarota (Nancy). She was also Aunt to Douglas Ruark (Theresa), Christopher Cammarota (Debbie), Kevin  Cammarota, Michael Richey (Katey), Gioia Richey, Katie Urqueza, and Thomas Walsh.

Relatives, friends, and neighbors are invited to gather with the Cammarota family on Saturday afternoon between 12:30 pm and 2:30 pm at Etherington & Creran Funeral Homes 400 White Horse Pike, Oaklyn, NJ 08107 where a remembrance ceremony will be celebrated at 2:30 pm to 3:00 pm.

As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Samaritan Hospice 3906 Church Rd. Mt. Laurel, NJ 08054.
