On Tuesday, February 7, 2023, after 84 wonderful years, Charles Schaefer Senior passed away. He was in his home of 50 years surrounded by his family.
Charles was a lifelong resident of Oaklyn and graduate of Collingswood Senior High School, Class of 1956. He earned his BA from Rutgers University and made his career in customer service for various food distribution companies.
He was dedicated to his family and community. As a young parent, wherever his children were involved he was as well. Over the years he served his community by volunteering with Oaklyn Little League, serving as a councilman, and chairing the planning board committee.
He was a lifelong Philadelphia sports fan, but his heart and passion was with the Phillies. He had a meticulous and organized approach to everything he did. This was seen in his perfectly manicured lawn and in his precisely organized workbench.
Charles was an accomplished musician who was best known for his talent playing the saxophone. These gifts which were developed at a young age were used to glorify the Lord.
Above all else and most importantly, was Charles’ commitment to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and to his family.
The Schaefer family has chosen to come together and take comfort in each other privately.
