Catherine "Cass" Lapiska

On February 21, 2016, (nee Daniluk), for many years a resident of Woodlynne, NJ, age 89. She was the beloved wife of the late Peter Lapiska, loving mother of Peter M. (Elizabeth) and Nick Lapiska, the late Karen Lapiska Pierce, and dear mother-in-law of Dr. Vincent Pierce, Jr. She is also survived by her dear grandchildren, Cassie (Brandon) Healy, Dr. Rebecca (Dr. Shaan) Khurshid, Derek (Brittany) Lapiska, Laura Pierce, Hunter, Connor, Nicholas, and Sally Ann Lapiska, and great grandson Pierce James Healy. Cass was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. Cass was born and raised in Camden, and graduated from Camden High School. After her graduation, Cass helped support her family by working for the New York Shipyard in Camden, and then for the National Labor Relations Board in Philadelphia, where she ran the office, comprised mostly of lawyers, for most of her professional career. She had been an active member of St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Cherry Hill, where she helped make Pyrohy for the church to sell. When her children were young, Cass was President of the Woodlynne School PTA, and President of the Woodlynne Little League Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Ladies Red Hat Society in Cape Canaveral, and was President of her Cape Canaveral Condo Association. While her life was full of many important decisions, her most important choices were always made to benefit her family. Relatives and friends are invited to meet Saturday from 9:30 to 10:15 AM at St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 675 Cooper Landing Rd, Cherry Hill, NJ. The Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at New St. Mary's Cemetery in Bellmawr. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 1851 Old Cuthbert Rd., Cherry Hill, NJ 08034.
