Barbara J. (nee Taylor), age 85 of Oaklyn, passed away peacefully at home on Monday September 20, 2021.
Mrs. Hyer was born in Oaklyn and spent all of her days there. She started her working career in insurance before spending time at Haddon Tool. She worked as a Teacher’s Aide at the Clyde S. Jennings Elementary School in Haddon Twp. and finished her working years in accounts payable at the Haddon Twp. Board of Education. Mrs. Hyer had been a lifetime parishioner of St. Joseph The Worker Parish, St. Aloysius Church in Oaklyn and was a long time supporter and “team mom” of the Haddon Twp. High School Girls Basketball team. Along with her husband “Reds” she helped organize and manage t he HTHS girl’s basketball booster club, candy sales, car washes and beach towel sales. In 2009 Barbara received the Haddon Twp. High School community service award and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2009. The Hyers also adopted and supported the high school girls soccer and softball teams. At home, Barbara was quiet. Shey enjoyed crossword puzzles, sports and will be fondly remembered as upbeat and a good spirit.
Mrs. Hyer is the daughter of the late Leon & his wife Edna (nee Baldwin) Taylor. She is survived by her husband John. H. “Reds” Hyer, Jr. and is the mother of Christopher and the late John H. Hyer, III.
