Alvin J. Zmuda, Age 86 of Audubon, NJ passed away on Saturday August 29, 2009 at Virtua Hospital, Berlin with his family by his side.
Mr. Zmuda was born in Wilmington, DE and was a resident of Audubon for the past 51 years. Al faithfully defended his country during WWII and the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1946. Mr. Zmuda had been a longtime parishioner of Holy Maternity Church and was a member of the Holy Name Society. He had also been a member of Murray-Trout American Legion Post 262 in Audubon. Al had worked at Campbell Soup Co. in Camden for 51 years. After retiring, he worked in the maintenance department at Tavistock Country Club for 10 years.
Mr. Zmuda is the beloved husband of 63 years of Eleanor (nee Przytula) Zmuda; father of Marie Zmuda and her husband Thomas Thistlewood and his son Joseph Zmuda. He is the proud grandfather of Christina and Victoria Thistlewood and is also survived by his sister Natalie Markiewicz and her husband Edmund; his nieces Nancy Markiewicz and Carol (John) Forziati.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the Zmuda family to remember and pay tribute to Alvin on Thursday morning from 9:30-11:00AM at Holy Maternity Church, 431 W. Nicholson Rd, Audubon where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM. Interment and military honors will follow at the Brig. Gen. Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
